high council gratitude...

I am grateful for Nomad•ness Travel Tribe and all that it has brought into my life in 2012. Friendships, relationships, businesships, fearlessness, and confidence. To the High Council ( Kali Blocker Jason Francis Keith Swingle Macario OverZealous James ) the love I have for each of you is individualized, and collective. You all are my rocks of 2012. Two of you have known me for over a decade, and two of you met me officially at the first ever Tribe Meet Up a year ago. Still, our bonds are the same. To family and friends both within and outside the Tribe, who have been supporters since Day one. Whether Kickstarter or words of encouragement at the right time. Respect and Gratitude to you all.

Nomadness College Tour 1st Stop: Morgan State University

This weekend had me en route to Baltimore, Maryland. Used to going through it, on the way to DC, I found myself spending the whole day at Morgan State University. One of the most amazing Tribe members, Lynn Middleton, got her Deltas together on the campus and they sponsored the first stop on the Nomadness College Tour. The gratitude I have for Morgan State is immeasurable right now. They took a chance on me. In one school day, I spoke in two Enterpreneur classes, and killed the main event of the evening. From 7-9pm, in the Student Center, I was gifted with the open minds and open hearts of over 100 Morganites. They heard my story, my fears, my inspirations, my lessons....my life.

I had nearly a two hour conversation with the director of their Study Abroad department.

Below are two hysterical clips of the 'Stereotypes' portion of the evening presentation. Enjoy, and please spread the word. If you are a student and would like to have Nomadness roll through your campus please feel free to contact me through the 'contact.' tab above.

Much gratitude sent to Lynn, William, Sharita, Michelene, Mr. Niba, and Shade for Skyping in all the way from Kazakhstan. Amazing, amazing, experience...

be a catalyst...

Yesterday, I was blessed to be able to present on a panel of young entrepreneurs, to the Catalyst Network Foundation scholars. A program that brings high schoolers into the world of business and college preparation through mentoring, workshops, panel discussions, and group building. Networking, with professionals, is pushed big through CNF and these kids are nothing less than amazing. I had the chance to speak with, and present to, the majority of the scholars that you see in the video itself. They are an impressive group indeed. It was a pleasure to have their energy and questions in the room. Such a vibrant group of young minds...

and then there was Ebony...

About a year ago, a former associate and I were in his 'lab'. Me on one side of the room, drowning in index cards, story producing the Berlin episode you see of Nomad•ness TV on the homepage of this site. He, on the other side of the room in front of a full on, Pro Tools engineered recording system. Ivory was recording my new theme song to the show. We were silent, in our own worlds, yet the beats he created fed into the energetic flow of how I was making scene placements for the pilot.

It was on that day, after finding out he'd have a song be played on Hot 97.1 for the first time, that he asked me, "What would be your mecca? Your equivalent to Hot 97?"

I responded, "My equivalent would be having Nomad•ness written up in Ebony or Essence Magazine. That would be a day I'd have to stop and really digest what I was doing."

Today. June 7, 2012, Ebony.com dropped the online teaser to the article that will appear in the print July 2012 Issue of Ebony Magazine, on page 62. I woke up to a congratulatory spectacle and a self made frenzy trying to get the news out to as many people as possible. We now have a date, and a preview.

The emotions. The words. It's all so much. First, thank you to author and Tribe member Tomika Anderson for making this happen. It's amazing.

Secondly, seeing as this article is wrapped around the Panama trip, I want to thank every single one of the members of the Tribe that braved it out there, and took a chance on me. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for you all. We know what we shared out there was unique, and only the beginning. We haven't taken off yet.

Tears flowed heavily this morning...ending up in having to simply walk away from all forms of technology, and walk around my neighborhood, with no agenda. I sat on a bench and wrote in my journal for almost an hour, sun kissed skin.

I went to bed last night asking for a sign... and I woke up to the Ebony feature. Sometimes the Universe gives you subtle hints. Other times, it punches you in the face.

a dream being realized in 2 photos...

These two photos did me in this week...

Tribe Member Karen, in Kenya this week.

14 Tribe Members in Paris, France for the weekend to attend the 'Watch The Throne' concert

I can't begin to explain how these photos, so vastly different, made me feel this week as they were posted in the group. The first, of Karen, among the real deal Kenyans, in Africa, and them holding up OUR Tribe card.... the power takes my breath away. To see something I created, being represented in Africa is just beyond my comprehension right now. I am so grateful that she took this trip, for her, and appreciated the Tribe enough to (in a certain capacity) take us with her. This image is just emblazoned in me right now! It's the real message behind what I do. The true exploration, of each other.

Then...the Watch The Throne crew. I have to smile hard every time I even think about how his Meet Up came about. Two months ago, not even, member Rasheed (all the way to the right) threw up that he wanted to peep the concert in Paris, for obvious song oriented reasons. Within an hour, the thread was almost 100 comments long and what you see above is the product of that. 14 members, from Michigan, to Jersey, to Houston, to ATL, to members who are Paris residents, all had their first Meet Up and went to the concert tonight......like, I can't!!

My favorite part about the two photos: I'm not in either one of them. There is an authenticity to the fact that each of these memories happened on their own, in the vein of the Tribe, but I appreciate being the spectator, having the front row seat. It's like being the first one to start the wave, and then seeing it travel around an entire stadium. My stadium is the world.

You guys just don't know what it means, or fully how it feels to see this come to fruition. I'm so emotional this week behind it all. The Tribe's first Trunk show is tomorrow in NYC, and I'm all types of IN IT.

Gratitude isn't even the word.

Thank. You.

perspective into turning 28...

Image found on Facebook

In less than 3 hours. Midnight tonight, the calendar will strike March 31st and I'll officially be 28 years old. The big 2-8. This is the birthday that has me entering a new pinnacle of life, in the world of numerology, and a year in which I always envisioned huge things happening to me. I remember telling myself as a child that I'd have my first child at 28. I think this holds true, only my first child is manifesting less as a person, and more so a business. At this point, I'd have it no other way.

It was this photo, more than anything else that really struck me as something representative of where my mind is going into another year. What do you need? Why do you not have it? What is needed to obtain, attain, or maintain it?

I welcome this new year older with open arms and an open heart.

I am grateful for all I do have, and for whatever reason, all I don't.

Thank you all for supporting. Especially those behind the movement and the Kickstarter. 11:59pm tonight marks the official 24 hours left mark to the Kickstarter. If you thought about getting me anything for my birthday, all I ask is a small pledge to the Kickstarter fundsraiser for the Tribe. Even as small as $5 if you haven't thus far. Thank you SO much everyone. Muah!

Happy 6 Month Birthday Nomad•ness Travel Tribe...

It's a beautiful week. Stressful but beautiful.

Only 3 days out from my own birthday, I have to send a huge shout out to the Tribe's 6 month birthday as well. Almost 1800 members strong. Fitting, to say the least. It still keeps me a bit baffled at how many amazing things, relationships, business partnerships, and the like have all been fostered over the last 6 months under this group. Everyone, their own character.

Thank you to everyone involved. You have taught me so much, about...so much.

If you'd like to say thank you for either myself, or the Tribe's Birthday...we only have 3 days. Even a $5 donation makes all the difference. Our deadline is Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:59PM. Looking to finish this Kickstarter with a bang.

Nomad•ness Tribe Kickstarter 2012: $10,000 in 45 days..

We got this!!!!!!

As many of you know, last year Nomad•ness was successful in a funding campaign for the pilot episode of Berlin or BUST! The video which you can see to the upper right of your screen. --->

Our goal then was $5,000 in 45 days. We hit $6,620.

Now, with the Tribe surrounding me, it's time to go for the gusto! On September 29, 2012 the Tribe is having their 1 Year Anniversary, and it's going to be the Ultimate International Tribe Meet Up. What better way to bring that in then to have it shot and turned ino an episode for the crew?! It's going to be amazing!

So, the Tribe and I are on the road to raising $10,000 in 45 (now 43 days). As I type this we just got our 15th pledge and have IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS went over 10% funded at $1030.

When I tell you this movement is something that people believe in, believe me!!!

Even if you pledge just $1 it all helps us reach our goal. The fundraising ends on March 31, 2012 at 11:59pm. We have some cool rewards for people who pledge into the filming of the project. Remember, Kicktarter is all or nothing. If you don't make your goal (you can go over) by your deadline, you get nothing and no funds are taken from your pledgers. Thems the rules! Thank you to everyone who has helped both past and present, and I look forward to demolishing this goal, on the road to March 31st. Spread the word!

just respect my conglomerate....

"Since we are the best and you agree with me right?
No need to debate... the way we move sh*t
See we're kind of like the government, so just respect my conglomerate"

Last night was a huge night for Nomad•ness Travel Triibe. A huge thank you shout out goes out to our DC member, Julia who organized the DMV (DC, Virginia, Maryland) Meet Up last night. For about a month now, I knew I was going to be attending this Meet Up, as a surprise. This was huge for me as it was the first time that I was able to see with my own eyes, how these things go down in other cities outside of NYC. My goal is to be in a position where I can do these drop ins so effortlessly that even the event organizer doesn't know that I'm coming.

The Toast 'To The Tribe', the personal stories of everyone's backgrounds, and I as spectator, were all so emotionally overwhelming to me. Opening up to them all about my journey, the tears just came...finally. I know I'd been fighting them for awhile. Seeing the way it all came together, the slew of mental Polaroids that are emblazoned in my head, and the stories embedded in my heart. Damn, it's amazing to see this thing move in the flesh.

It IS a conglomerate. They are all pillars for the movement, and I love each and every one of them. Much respect and gratitude.

Nomad•ness is spreading....

I have to give a shout out to a Nomad•ness Travel Tribe member, and HUGE fan from the start, Fabianna.

She hit me today with the coolest random text message screen shot today between her and a recent addition to the Tribe, who has been going IN to solidify his spot in Panama. Which he was successful in, as of yesterday. Don't want to just throw your name out there.

This really warmed my heart, and the 'Evita's Nomads' made me chuckle. I appreciate you guys. It's spreading....

11.1.11

My favorite month is officially over for 2011. As per usual, this October has done me outstandingly well. Dare I say, better than any before it. it was a month of setups. Serious set ups for the end of 2011, in preparation for what is to come in 2012.

Network talks for Nomad•ness Travel Series, my baby the Nomad•ness Travel Tribe, even the prospect of a gentleman has arrived.

To this all, I prep my focus for November.

First off, I cannot think of the number 11, let alone 11/11 without sending a congratulations, I'm proud of you, I have your back, and wish you nothing but the best, to my ex who will be moving to LA to continue pursuing his dreams in acting and modeling. Nelson, you know you're not alone. Call me anytime when you need inspiration, advice, or ventilation. We will always be there for each other. I am unbelievably proud of the man you are.

The first week of November is my younger brother's birthday.

Obviously Thanksgiving, but it's the business dealings that will define November.

I have a TED application to complete, 5 interviews from reality-tv stars that I interviewed this weekend for J'Adore Magazine,  get this Nomad•ness Diversity Workshop out to colleges, and 2 book reviews for a magazine based out the UK to get Nomad•ness some international exposure. This month will be busy, and formative, and telling as to where Nomad•ness is going into the New Year. I look forward to it, with open arms, open heart, and open mind.

onto November...

a tribute to Where's Julian?

Wheres Julian? -Episode 3 (Loch Raven Reservoir) from WheresJulian? on Vimeo.

Bayyina, one of the Nomad•ness Travel Tribe's, new bright personalities hit the Tribe with a very sobering, yet inspirational, moment today. She shared the story of her friend Julian who passed away in a car accident last Thursday. As traumatic as I dare think the situation is for her, she shared with the Tribe (her self-proclaimed extended family) her friend's show "Where's Julian?" I'd love for you all to check it out.

In her words:

I'm sharing this with all of you because I feel like you are apart of my extended family. Julian was put on this Earth to show everyone how to live life to the FULLEST which I feel like a lot of us do in this group. The majority of people in the world aren't travelers and don't have the guts to just get up and BLAST like many of us do. We only have ONE life to live and we've got to LIVE IT! I love you guys!

This one is for Julian, and others who have seen this fate way too young. Rudi, this stirs up thoughts of you as well. Introduce yourself to Julian up there, so he's not alone. Love to you both!
