Living a life without boundaries has been a way of life for me since I was a child. I started traveling internationally when I was twelve and the experiences I’ve had living, studying and working in other countries has led me to live a life without borders and boundaries. In building the Travelista TV brand, my business partner and I have been steadfast in our goal to travel the world, share our experiences, and inspire others to travel. After traveling to 55+ countries, being published in 8 publications, appearing on NBC, the Travel Channel, The Fine Living Network and BET, I know the path I’ve chosen to build the Travelista TV brand was for me.
Travelista TV, Nomadness and a community of multicultural bloggers are changing the world’s perception about international travel and opening the eyes of Fortune 500 companies who are looking to tap into this growing travel demographic. It is our goal at Travelista TV to continue to provide engaging travel related video and editorial content that inspires everyone to travel, become more open-minded and enjoy the richness that the experiences bring.

As a woman who, sadly, has had to leave a number of past boyfriends behind in my own personal pursuit to see the world, this photo project that Murad Osmann has put together touches my heart.
Starting in Barcelona, in October 2011, Osmann and his girlfriend have been to dozens of countries and taking their noted 'follow me' photo in each place. This is an amazing declaration of love, travel, and adventure. Three of my favorite things. In a less artistically literal form, I look forward to this moment with someone in my life.

Those of you out there, whether in the Nomadness Tribe or not, know that I'm not the type of traveler looking for the show boat hotels, five star accommodations, or luxury pads. There's a time and place for everything. While on the rise in this entrepreneurship universe, my funds have no time, place, or business considering these types of three and four figure lodging accommodations. Hostel junkie. Bless them and their $10/night rooms around the world. Airbnb.com fanatic.
And I've recently stumbled on a new UK site obsession of mine. Wimdu is a site you must check out when venturing on the European side of the pond. They're new, expanding, and efficient. I'm a lover of staying in places that feel like home away from home, and places that cost next to nothing. To have the comfort of someone's private residence and only pay 9 GBP a night....what the hell are you waiting for?
Though I've been super saturated with work on the series and Tribe, I've been in this very emotional state. Hormones? Who knows? But it's there and it's quite prevalent. It also happens to be pseudo-embarrasing, as I broke down in joyful tears on the middle of Flatbush Avenue this week. I saw my street cred dissipating before my eyes, draining down my face....
The nature of the positive tears?
The realization of the difference between dating someone who supports your travels, versus dating someone who engages in travel themselves. The conversation began with me referenceing my ex. An upstanding man, who I will always respect and show gratitude towards for standing by my side, theoretically, during the most mobile years of my life, thus far. For three years nearly, there were a lot of tears shed at airports, and me second guessing my need for travel, due to repeatedly leaving the man I was with back in New York. I remember coming back from Thailand specifically...I was drowning in travel withdrawl. The Tribe wasn't up (so I had no social community I felt I could go to), and my solem depression led me to set up a 'date' with my friend Xianix. I needed to talk to a traveling friend who would get it. This necessity for someone to relate to my feelings was mentally and emotionally exhaustive. This was one of the times I wanted so bad for the man I was dating to look me in the eyes and say, "I understand what you're going through."
Instead I got, "I'm sorry I just can't relate."
To no fault of his, I knew in my heart it was the beginning of the end. And as time would show, it was. No one had done anything wrong, but in one sentence I realized that his non-relation to what I was going through, and not being a traveler himself, guaranteed that he was going to be missing out on a huge part of my life, let alone the woman I was growing into. For the next few months, I drudged through my travel depression, called the few friends that I had who'd been abroad, and promised myself that I would 'go out' more in order to make myself 'feel better'. It was a very cloudy, mysty period. I felt like I was going though life, yet not living it. And definitely not sharing it with somebody else.
Fast forward 2 years later...relation appeared.
Unexpectedly, and with the full court press type of persuance, I find myself in a relatinship with a traveler. Someone who not only relates to the obsession, but taps his veins too. A man who not only wants to go on the trips, but has the buddy passes to make it happen. A love that started on foreign soil and developed domestically. Someone who doesn't mind sleeping in airports if it means catching the early morning flight. I am like a kid in a candy store. You mean to tell me that I have all this in one package of a man... and I can have sex with him too? (yes...I just said that.)
So yea, these joyful tears that were shed in the middle of a Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn...warranted.
Thoroughly enjoying the upgrade from support to relation.

So the stats say something like 30% of the US population have their passport. Less than that actually use it. Staggering statistics. As you can imagine, it bothers me at the core. So, I'm super psyched about this innovative Passport Day that the government has come up with. For those of you out there without a passport, or with an expired one, the time is NOW! Spread the word.
On Saturday, March 10 only, apply for your U.S. passport at a Regional Passport Agency without an appointment. You will be able to apply for standard processing (4-6 weeks) or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing (2-3 weeks, door-to-door). Passport Day in the USA events are being held at Regional Passport Agencies and many Passport Acceptance Facilities across the country in communities like yours. If you’ve been waiting to get your passport, this is the time!

Got notified that this photo above "Ocean Front" that I took while in Panama last week, won a contest on Bungolow.com. So cool. I think this is the best way to kick off the blast for my travel photography. Whether it's member cards for the Tribe, the next batch of T-shirts, everything all the funds raised go to help fuel the continued movement forward.
Please support! Even buying one photo makes a difference! CHECK OUT THE PANAMA PHOTOS HERE!
So the Nomad•ness Travel Tribe is headed on it's 1st EVER NomadnessX Trip in a little over a week. 20 of us are headed to Panama for a week. I can't even explain how much I am 10000% looking forward to every aspect of this trip. Haven't been on a plane since Berlin and I'm beyond the itch phase. I need to get the hell out of NYC. All the better, I'm leaving this bitter, disrespectful cold, to get into a tropical climate. Not even to mention that I'll be shooting there and you all will be blessed with a new episode sometime in February, and this time I get to debut the Tribe. I can't wait.
The preparations are showing themselves bit by bit and there's tons to do, including get some funds in my pocket. When it's the top of the month, and you're going on a trip, and you're released from a contract a bit earlier than expected from freelancing, your brain...well my brain, goes a little coo coo trying to find creative ways to build a buck. The standard photos, bags, etc but (don't judge me) I also came across a site that had my mind on a whole other plane. Has anyone ever gambled (legally of course) to raise funds for trips? Randomly came across Party Poker and I had to sit with myself for a second...Would I? Should I? Could I?
Spades is more my thing (blame my ethnicity) but I can tear down in some Texas Holdem. Y'all have no idea! So... egaming, Party Poker, new way to pay for travel? Thoughts? I'm just saying...

These 20 envelopes have the power of $20,000 in them. And there will be many more where that came from...
I'm always up to something. Dreaming bigger, going farther, doing better. Always something.
So behind the scenes I've been developing a Diversity/Travel Workshop to conduct at colleges and universities around the country, and eventually around the world. Today, I sent out the first batch of 20 letters with a one sheet on the program, the Nomad•ness Series, and who I am. I can't wait until I can venture the movement out on a broader scale, and really get the message of traveling out to the youth, the students, the thinkers, the sponges that they are. I'm hella excited!
If any of you out there are interested in bringing me and the workshop to your college or university, please just use the 'contact.' tab in the top right corner and send me your info. I am surper excited to spread the vision.
Thanks!
The last two weekends have hit me with some emotional spurts...all due to my people and the moves we are making...not trying to make, but are making. Last weekend was Josh and Chanel's wedding.
This weekend, up until this morning, it's been Steph's impending leave to South Africa. As of this morning, my dear friend boarded on that plane to Johannesburg. Through an amazing going away party, in a loft space I'd sell my first child for, Steph, the Tribe (in FULL effect), friends, and friends who are damn near family all gathered together to send this phenomenal off in style.
Steph and I traveled India together in early 2010, after only meeting in real life twice. The third time I ever saw her face, it became a lifeline of sanity and reliability, and friendship during one of the most intense trips of my life. There was a spoken and unspoken bond between us ever since. Both of us, recently, home for months on end (which is a long time for us both) really gave way to our friendship growing. It was a conversation with Stephanie that turned the idea of building a social network for the Tribe on another platform, into an already inclusive Group on Facebook. That idea, mixed with the vision I already had in place, was hands down one of the best moves for the Tribe, the series, and the business as a whole. I thank her for that insight. Something that I run to often for both creative and personal matters.
I love her. She truly has become one of my closest friends, to date. I appreciate her spirit, her drive, and her unrelenting passion. She is a true gem.
I, the Tribe, mutual friends all want to with Stephanie an easy, joyful transition to her new home in South Africa.
Run the world, as you will, and I promise the Tribe will be there for the Meet Up. trust...
Thank you for being you.
I am intoxicated by this clip from 'Rules of Attraction'. The Tribe has to attempt this...
Vaughn in Luxembourg (He's got the Lenny Kravitz thing going...)
For people who read the features on the blog, you've noticed through the last year that it's been a lot of women. One of the positive side effects of starting the Nomad•ness Travel Tribe on Facebook, is that I now have a vast number of fellas that have been trekking all over the planet, to feature.
First up, is Vaughn. Philly resident, yet citizen of the world. Vaughn jumped right into the Tribe and immediately became a standout personality in the group. Reeling you in through his words, honesty, and humor, he had the perfect set up to blow your mind with his travel photography. The man's camera skills are phenomenal.
Having traveled to: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium, Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Japan
He earns the title Nubian Drifter, which is the name of his travel website. Definitely check it out!
His journeys originated in everything from an internship with a PR agency in London, to just doing what comes natural to him: exploring the world. Regardless of reason, he freely opens up about how travel has shaped his life.
'[Travel] has opened me up to so much. It's completely changed my outlook on life. Aside from the obvious, like my wide regard for foreign film, world music and multi-ethnic cuisines, I think travel has changed how I view the way we as individuals live in the world. It has made me a much more caring, agreeable person. I think because travel humbles you— it makes you realize it's not all about you (and this was big for me, seeing how I grew up an only child). It brings you down a few notches, and for me, it provided me with a sense of community that was missing from my person.'
One can only respect that.

This is the second one I'm posting in the series of 3 video...
Chills. This is why I do this!

Ever been traveling, and have someone whip their religion out on you like it was a penis?
I have.
This week launched the Nomad•ness Travel Tribe on Facebook!
An extension of the Nomad•ness Travel Series, this is the place where the group congregates. The series has very much been about my travels, but if you watch closely, you'll see I'm leading a movement bigger than me.
Way bigger than me!
So here's the deal with the Tribe. It's a CLOSED GROUP on Facebook. Meaning, to gain entry you either have to be recruited by a current member, or you have to ask to join the group, and be allowed entry.
There's one qualification factor: You have to have AT LEAST 1 INTERNATIONAL STAMP in your passport! That's it!
Immediately upon entry to the group, you have to go through your 'rite of passage', which is by scrolling down to the first poll question and checking off which countries are represented in your passport. (Which is the coolest shit ever because of the little icons.) We're on day three of the group and already have 90 countries tagged. It's insane!
This group has gained steam, and we have people from all over the world! All I ask, is that if you will be active, then join. It's not about numbers, it's about activity and engagaing with like-minded people traveling the world! Post photos, videos, poll questions, advice, etc... pass it on!
Nomad•ness Travel Tribe on Facebook!
To all my backers of this project, thank you so much for all the support. This is the web version of the pilot episode that your donation helped fund. Check it out! You all are so amazing, and the gratitude that I have for all your help is unparalleled. Movements on the business side have been made, that I can't release just yet. I will when I can. Again, thank you!!!!!!!! I fu*king love you guys...
